    1. The aim of this article is to show that astrology, despite the attempts of some of its proponents to present it under a scientific guise, belongs to the domain of occultism. By checking certain astrological assumptions against the standard scientific accounts of the corresponding phenomena, provided by astronomy and physics, the author comes to the conclusion that the major premise of astrology according to which celestial events exert a significant influence on human lives is unsubstantiated.

A number of key astrological arguments and suppositions, such as the connection between the tides and the moon, the division of the zodiac circle into 12 equal parts, the identification of the astrological dates with the astronomical dates, the influence of stars on the moment of birth, are either exaggerated or utterly unconvincing. Astrology is not a scientific discipline. It is a door which leads to an invisible wicked spiritual world, and turns human beings away from God.
