    1. The article seeks to debunk the preconception that Orthodoxy can unilaterally identify with one science or another; in addition, it argues against the preconception that Orthodoxy uses the logic of the excluded middle (or-or), according to which it should ideologically choose between naturalism and supernaturalism, or between science and the Bible. Finally, the author aims to show that what we call Orthodoxy was forged precisely by applying sutble judgments, which are expressions of the transdisciplinary principle of the included middle (and-and). In other words, by labelling as non-ecclesial any or-or type of judgment, the article attempts to suggest a mature approach, from the point of view of theology, of the contemporary scientific vision of the world and of man.

      The thematic units that make up the essay, although they do not refer explicitly to the problems posed above,  still show these constant concerns all throughout. The author begins by outlining some main underlying principles, that help for the better understanding of the argumentation that follows. The essay is then divided into four parts:

      1) A comprehensive framework for the relations between science and theology. Hermeneutical issues;

      2) A brief history of the conflict, including an overview of the Western mentality;

      3) An Orthodox perspective on the conflict creationism-evolutionism;

      4) Some elements for interpreting the biblical essay about creation.
