The background of the 44-year-old Orthodox scholar includes studying Geology in St. Petersburg State University, an internship in the USA and Germany, Austria and Switzerland, France, writing his PhD, creation of more than 400 types of synthetic materials. Currently, he is the Head of Crystallography Department at the Institute of Earth Sciences, St. Petersburg State University, the Chief Officer at the Center for Nanomaterial Science of the Kola Science Center, Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the National Committee of Crystallographers of Russia, a member of the RF President Council for Grants, and the Vice President of the Russian Mineralogical Society.

      S.V. Krivovichev has five patents for technological development, 670 scientific publications are also associated with his name, Hirsch's index is the highest - 34. Last year Sergei Vladimirovich was nominated by his institute as a corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences, his candidacy was supported by several academicians from the Department of Earth Sciences RAS. In his honor, the International Association of Mineralogists named a new mineral - "krivovichevit." Simultaneously, Sergei Krivovichev serves as deacon at St. Petersburg Church of the Great Martyr Panteleimon, and he is the father of seven children.

      The scientist believes that science and religion do not contradict each other, but simply answer different questions. From his point of view, it is faith in God that is the main beacon in order to direct scientific and technical progress in the right direction, to use its benefits not to harm humankind. At the moment, Deacon Sergey Krivovichev is working on the theological thesis "Religious views of Christian scientists of the XX-XXI centuries".
