Nikola Tucic was one of the most renowned evolutionary biologists in Serbia, a professor of evolution at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade and a corresponding member of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), a leading researcher in the area of evolutionary biology and the author of more than hundred notable publications. He was known for popularization of Darwin’s theory of evolution, as well as the scientist who strongly opposed the 2004 tentative school reform aiming at exclusion of Darwinist theory.
