   1. Ivan Markovski was Bulgarian theologian, a long-standing professor and dean of the Theological Faculty of the Sofia University. He was the founder of the Old Testament chair at the Sofia University with the establishment of the faculty in 1924. In the same year he published “The biblical story on creation”, a first attempt for solid argumentation in Bulgaria of an Orthodox view on creation (a reworked version of this work is issued in 1933 under the title “Origin and structure of the world accord to the Bible and science”). Markovski was a prolific writer with many studies on Old Testament questions and Biblical archeology.
