    1. Due to the author's opinion, politicization of religion does not occur in traditional societies, but rather in societies that have achieved a high degree of modernization, which, however, did not lead to the expected prosperity. The failure of modernization is manifested in a number of crises, as a result of which a significant part of the population is alienated from the socio-political institutions of the society. Religious-political organizations help people overcome the effects of crises with the help of alternative social institutions (schools, clinics, courses, etc.).

      The initiator of religious-political movements are not religious professionals (“clergy” in the broad sense), but religious-oriented intelligentsia (“new intellectuals”). Its representatives often do not possess solid knowledge of theology or personal insight and "enlightenment" is of great importance to them.
