    1. It is too early, from the author's point of view, to say whether the Russian Church contributes to the consolidation of democracy or, on the contrary, contributes to the preservation of an authoritarian tradition, because the process of reconsideration of the Orthodox positions has just begun.

       Orthodoxy can create a balance between two contradictory tendencies of the Russian political culture - the desire for a Western model of democracy and the preservation of authoritarian power. It can be assumed that the place of Orthodoxy in the formation of the political culture of Russian society is something of a binding substance between other social institutions that influence political culture. On the one hand, religion cannot be a building material, and on the other - without its existence, everything created as a result of the historical development of Russian society may collapse. For the Russian Orthodox Church, it does not matter in principle which type of political culture - patriarchal, activist or parish - to support. Thus, the ROC contributes to the stabilization of political culture.
