    1. Orthodox apologetics, of course, must develop in line with the patristic tradition. However, this thesis is often understood completely incorrectly - as if, relying on the statements of our fathers, we must refute modern natural science concepts or in some way “restructure” the natural sciences. From here, instead of the apology of faith, we get, literally “out of the blue”, ideological and culturological conflicts. Our task is much deeper and more subtle - without rejecting the scientific methodology, factual and theoretical basis, we should offer their holistic theological understanding, based on the living patristic experience of God-knowing, concluded in the unity of faith and the church-mind. In this sense, the theology of St. Maximus the Confessor (580–662) is an inexhaustible source that feeds modern natural science apologetics. His teaching on logos and tropos is an important component of this spiritual and intellectual heritage.
