    1. This ancient Greek word "math" is one-root with the verb μανθάνω (manthanō) - learn, learn, understand. And the noun ὁ μαθητής (mathētēs), which is also found in the New Testament, means not a mathematician at all, but a student or follower of some teacher or teaching, notes the author.

       At the same time, one should think intelligently about the Christian faith, that it is not knowledge, but faith, which in its basis radically contradicts our logical and mathematical rationality, reason. You can only believe in what you can not know by itself. After all, the very foundations of Christianity — the doctrine of God the Trinity — come into complete contradiction with the most elementary mathematical propositions. For how can we rationally understand and comprehend the fact that God is one and at the same time threefold?
