Astrology is becoming an increasingly popular domain and its adepts use to manipulate the natural laws in order to reach their point. This article is dedicated to the scientific argumentation showing the meaning of these attempts.
Christianity denies the concept of the destiny. Different Church Fathers have provided their argumentation about this issue: Gregory of Nyssa, Jean Chrysostom, St Augustine and others. Astrology isn’t consistent in its methodology. Indeed, there is no clear indication about which celestial bodies must be considered as important for human’s horoscopes. To highlight the fundamental fluctuation in the used criteria, one can point out the issue of the asteroids, taken sometimes into consideration and sometimes – not. Similarly, evaluating the historical perspective, it should be noticed that for a long time astrology was dealing with some planets of the solar system but later one some more planets have been discovered there (Uranus, Neptune). After their discovery the astrologists are all supporting their importance for the determination of human’s destiny.
Astrology has a claim that considered to be scientific and based on the concept of the influence that the celestial bodies obviously produce. According to physics, among the celestial bodies there is the gravitational and electromagnetic radiation. As it comes to the importance of gravitation, the influence exercised over the new-born by Mercury is 4 milliard times less that the influence exercised by Earth. The same applies to the other planets as well. Venus is influencing 40 million times less that Earth, Mars – 1.4 milliard times less than Earth etc. As it comes to the magnetic fields, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn have them considerably less than the Earth and moreover, Venus and Mars don’t have any magnetic field.
With respect to the constellations the situation is even worse. Astrology is taking into consideration the stars that are visible to the naked eye, but the visible part of universe is its smallest part. These and other contradictions proper to Astrology show how irrelevant is to consider it as a science.
