    1. Ivan Panchovski is one of the leading Bulgarian theologians in the 20th century. He obtained a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Jena (in 1940).  Later, he became a professor at the Sofia University where he taught until the closure of the Theologian Faculty by the communist regime in 1949. In the next year he started teaching at the newly created Theologian Academy, a unit outside the university. His professional interests were in fields including Christion ethics, psychology of religion, religious pedagogics and Christian sociology. In 1943,  Panchovski published one of his key works - “Phycology of religion”.
