Smilen Markov is an assistant professor in theology at the University of Veliko Tarnovo.  Smilen Markov has a master degree in philosophy from the Sofia University, and a PhD degree from the University of Cologne on the metaphysical synthesis of Saint John of Damascus. His research interests are in Byzantine philosophy, medieval philosophy and Byzantine ontology.
