Ignatije Midić is a Serbian bishop of diocese of Požarevac and Braničevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, University of Belgrade, and obtained doctorate from the University of Athens. He showed keen interest for the ascetic life of Holy Fathers, Mount Athos, ancient Greek philosophy, literature, but he was also engaged in physics, in the study of Einstein and Heisenberg. He worked on the coexistence of different fields of study and fostered cognition that is not limited to dogma or some specific areas.
Bishop Ignatije Midić is a university professor teaching dogmatic theology at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, University of Belgrade where he was elected as the Dean in June 2018 for the period from 2018 to 2021.
He is a well-known Orthodox theologian both in Serbian and globally. His theological conceptions are mostly influenced by St. Maxim the Confessor and John Zizioulas.
