Should Darwinism still be studied in schools and universities?

    1. The author argued that Darwin’s theory has not been subject to critical assessment in the past two hundred years since its formulation, adding that it has “become a Bible for generations of paleontologists and biologists”. Even worst, some scientists have used fraud to prove its plausibility. Filipov put forward as a main argument that no transitional forms of species have been found, something which Darwin has mentioned as necessity for his theory to be proven, but this was neglected by his followers. However, paleontology proves the appearance (and disappearance) of completely developed species. In addition, the progress of new sciences such as biochemistry and genetics that has showed the complexity of cell, makes their random origin impossible.

       Darwin’s theory is even less powerless if it should explain a phenomenon such as the “Consciousness”, according to Filipov.  All this shows the existence of a Universal Reason guiding everything in the universe no matter how we call it – God or Creator. Why then Darwinism, this “undoubtedly outdated theory”, is still taught at schools and universities? A possible answer is that it is politically and socially acceptable.          

       The author concluded that Darwinism should not be struck off the school curriculum but it should not be taught as the only true explanation but rather as a point of view for the origin of species.
