    1. This monograph is the first systematic study on the problem of science and religion in the perspective of Orthodox Christianity in Russia. The purpose of the book, from the author's point of view, is to present possible ways of dialogue between science and religion that the Orthodox tradition can offer. Orthodox Christianity, according to the author, is very poorly represented in this dialogue, since in Orthodox countries systematic research activity, capable of producing results that could be published in the West and make a tangible contribution to the dialogue, is in its infancy.

The book begins with a review of patristic evidence on the relationship to natural scientific knowledge and examines the main contemporary problems in this area: status of scientific and religious knowledge, correlation of cosmology and creationism, the issues of philosophy, matter and anthropology, theological meaning of various models of creation, the mystery of time, the anthropic principle , the man's origin and God incarnation. The author demonstrates that the Orthodox tradition is capable of presenting a coherent theological concept or attitude to natural scientific knowledge.

The unique synthesis presented by the author not only demonstrates the value of the Orthodox tradition for modern science, but also asserts the high religious and theological value of scientific activity.
