In this book, Zachos raises the question of the current ecological crisis and puts forward a proposal for his solution, based on Maximus's the Confessor thought.
According to the author, the ecological crisis reveals the spiritual crisis of modern humanity. Among other things, the universality of the ecological problem, the modern culture of information, the conversion of everything into objects make it imperative to investigate the underlying causes.
These fundamental questions, which characterize the essence of human existence, were clearly elaborated by Maximus the Confessor in his work.
For Zachos, the work of Maximus, through his theory of movement, time, symbolic space and human will, knowledge and practice, is a safe proposition to address the contemporary ecological problem.
