    1. This article is a summary of the Patriarch Bartholomew’s message to the participants of the forthcoming UN conference on climate change, which was to be held in Morocco. The message was published on the official website of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople and highlighted on the Russian Orthodox website “Sedmitza”, a Moscow patriarchy webpage dedicated to scientific-church issues.

The patriarch in his message points out the slow pace of international organizations in dealing with environmental problems which, in his view, are inseparably connected with global poverty, migration and anxiety. He also mentions that the UN is very slow on the issue of renewable energy and the reduction of fossil fuels consumption. He concludes by accusing the governments of being engaged in apathetic politics in the interests of corporations, which, according to the Patriarch, endanger the survival of God’s creation.
