The subject of this article is the nuclear quake in Chernobyl and its spiritual consequences. According to the writer, Demosthenes Varsamis, the Chernobyl disaster can be a chance for modern man to understand that modern civilization can not offer the prosperity promised.
That means that people will discover the importance of spiritual values and also religion for the liberation of mankind from the evil brought by the technological culture.
In Varsamis' opinion, many times, in their attempt to replace God, the representatives of technocratic culture commit insult and sin. It is hopeful that people are now realizing this sin and they regard the successes of technology as social sin.
