    1. The article dwells on the criticism of Archpriest Pavel Khondzinsky’s Ph.D. thesis entitled "Solving problems of 18th Russian theology in the synthesis of St. Philaret, Metropolitan of Moscow." According to two biologists, Alexander Kuznetsov and Vladimir Aleshin, both of them Doctors of Science, Khodzinsky’s dissertation is not scientific and consequently cannot lead to the allocation of a Ph.D. degree for its author.

Kuznetsov points out that the dissertation is methodologically inconsistent. He explains that the dissertant does not bother to prove that his research bases itself solely on theology, with no other evidence to support it.

Aleshin compares the archpriest’s thesis to a student's essay, superior to most such works in style but inferior in analysis. The scientist points out that the awarding of a Ph.D. degree awarded for such work is devastating for the state system’s qualification of scientific personnel.
