    1. Robert G. Morrison has been a Jr. Professor of Religion in the Religion Department of the Bowdoin college since 2008 ,and previously held a position at Whitman College (2001-8). He received his Master in Philosophy and his Ph.D. from the Columbia University and also his A.M. and A.B. from Harvard University. His research has focused on the role of science in Islamic and Jewish texts, as well as in the history of Islamic science. His courses concern the academic study of both Islam and Judaism and, in addition, comparative topics. Robert has also contributed the chapters on Islamic astronomy to the New Cambridge History of Islam and the Cambridge History of Science and has published many articles, books and a monograph-length journal-article in the Journal for the History of Arabic Science.
