    1. The paper discusses the project “International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (2015)” whose expectations are to establish collaboration among science, culture and theology, primarily based on interdisciplinarity. According to the authors, international events aiming at the interdisciplinary research and theology-based experience are not usual at all.

The initiative aiming at interchange and interrelation of knowledge on light and its impact on human activity stemmed from QEOD – Quantum Electronics and Optics Division of the European Society of Physicists.

The idea appeared in 2009, so that in 2011 European Society of Physicists began activities leading to UNESCO’s taking on the pre-organizational activities and finally to the proclamation  of the “International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies ” in September 2013, by the resolution adopted on the 68th assembly of the General Parliament of the United Nations.

Putting focus on the dialogue between different disciplines and the modernization of research so as to provide replies and avoid self-isolation are according to the authors of the paper the key themes for the 21st century.
