   1. Neofit Bozveli was a cleric, a monk at the Hilandar monastery in Mount Athos, who was among the key figure in the movement for autonomous Bulgarian church hierarchy in the 1830s and the early 1840s. He was also active as a teacher and writer of textbooks. Bozveli was one of the first ardent supporters of the secular education.
