    1. Vasileios Stathakis, in this paper, discusses on one of the most serious human questions, in his opinion, the origins of the world. In the first part of his work, he presents the cosmologies from ancient times, up to the Fathers of the Church. Firstly, he refers a lot of cosmological traditions, from Ancient China to America. Then, he presents in details the Ancient Greek philosophers’ rational theories and the Old Testament. In the second part, he presents the Christian concept of the origins of the Universe, which are based on ancient greek philosophy, after the interpretation by Basil of Caesareia, who related it with the Genesis. As a conclusion, the writer says that the cosmology of Genesis is compatible with modern cosmological theories.
