Cyril Hovorun is currently a research fellow at the Yale University. He holds a Diploma in Physics from the Kiev National University (1992), a Bth (1994) and MTh (1998) from the Kiev Theological Academy, a Diploma in Theology from the University of Athens (2000) and a MA and a PhD in theology from the University of Durham (2003). He worked for the Moscow Patriarchate as the president of the Department for external Church relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, first deputy chair of the Educational Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church, vice-rector of the Postgraduate and Doctoral School of the Russian Orthodox Church. On behalf of the Russian Orthodox Church, he participated in a number of ecumenical dialogues, including the ones with the Lutheran, Anglican, Catholic, and Oriental Churches. He taught widely in Russia and abroad, including universities in US, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan etc. His main field is post-Chalcedonian Patristics. Currently he works on Ecclesiology. He has published more than 200 papers in several languages.
