   1. Archimandrite Pavel Stefanov was a priest and professor of theology at the Shumen University. Prof. Stefanov’s interests include church history and early Christianity. He has published many theological articles and a number of books, including a monograph on Gnosticism. He graduated from the theological faculty in Sofia in 1975 and shortly afterwards became a monk. Archimandrite Stefanov was the only monk in the Bulgarian Orthodox Church who as the same time was a university professor.
