   1. Born in 1966, Protopresbyter Michael Bekker studied at the Slavic Seminary of the University of Amsterdam, where he received his PhD entitled ‘’Towards a Critical Edition of the Old Slavonic Testament: A Transparent and Heuristic Approach’’. He was president of the Orthodox Youth in the Netherlands (OJN). In 1986, he became a member of the parish of the Moscow Patriarchate in Amsterdam. In December 2008 he was ordained deacon, and in September 2015 ordained priest by Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium. He is Director of the Amsterdam Centre for Orthodox Theology (ACOT).
