   1. Born in 1965 in Athens, Dr Ioannis Kourempeles studied Theology at the Universities of Thessaloniki, Erlangen and Heidelberg (Germany). He is associate Professor of Dogmatic and Symbolic Theology in the Department of Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is the winner of the 2016 Ratzinger Prize awarded by the Joseph Ratzinger-Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation for his work in exploring ''the richness of the encounter between Ratzinger’s thought and Orthodox theology’’.
