    1. The book represents the first published collection of religious and philosophical works of the great Russian physiologist A.Ukhtomskiy, as well as his diaries and correspondence with his spiritual friend Varvara Alexandrovna Platonova. The collection contains previously unknown theological searching of the scientist, revealing in many ways the context of his discoveries in physiology of higher nervous activity, biology and psychology.

       The book also contains Ukhtomskiy’s theological dissertation "Cosmological proof of God existence", indicating the Ukhtomskiy’s ideas connection, on the one hand, with Russian theological thought, associated with the names of Metropolitan Anthony (Khrapovitsky) and Metropolitan (later Patriarch) Sergius (Stragorodsky), and on the other hand, with the modern scientific thought development, not only in biology, but also in mathematics and physics (in particular the theory of relativity).
