    1. Ecotheology is a concept constructed from the elements of post-modernity. In the recent studies, it flourished in the fields bordered with ethics. However, it can be applicable to the Patristics. According to Father Cyril Hovorum, a prominent ‘eco-Father’ was Irenaeus of Lyon (2nd). Irenaues developed the theology of recapitulatio (biblical term which means the union of everything in God) –embracing by Christ of the entire creature, in all its ontological and chronological dimensions. Echoing the neoplatonic unification and return of the whole toward the One, Irenaeus’ ecotheology is Christocentric and is of soteriogical character.

It features a distinct teleology–salvation of the entire world in Christ, providing a holistic approach to the entire creation, including its past, present and future. In the framework of Irenaeus’s ecotheology, Man reaches its integrity by assuming the responsibility of mediator of Christ’s recapitulating mission.
