    1. The author analyzes the phenomenon of ecumenism (and the set of the term meanings - "ten ecumenisms"), as well as the differences between confessions and religions. He criticizes "ecumenical tendencies among the liberal intelligentsia."

This is an illustration of Kuraev’s position on ecumenism maintained in the book: "This means that the promo-show titled "Let it be synthesis!" will end up just by generating another sect, which will oppose itself to the rest (whose consciousness has not been developed enough to accept their ideas)".

Particular attention is paid to the paradoxical relations which have been grown between Orthodoxy and Catholicism. On the one hand, the author analyzes the main differences between them: he reproduces the full text of the papal infallibility dogma, explains the problem of "filioque", collates Catholic mysticism with the Eastern Church Fathers’ experience. On the other hand, he draws attention to the circumspection of the Russian Orthodox Church Bishops' Council (in 2000) documents to interpret communication gaps and links in Orthodox-Catholic relations.
