    1. The book represents a collection the famous Russian mathematician and Academician A.N.Parshin’s articles and speeches on science history and the related culture areas issued in different years. The offered texts naturally split into three sections, with four works in each.

       The first contains articles on math history (Moscow school of algebraic geometry, invariant theory, Gödel's theorem, G.Weyl and D.Hilbert). The next unit is devoted to various issues of natural science: philosophical aspects of quantum theory and biology, comparison of ancient and primeval scientific and mythological conceptions with modern science. Finally, the last unit contains publications dealing with the relationship between science and religion (particularly Orthodoxy).

       A large article is devoted to the Father Pavel Florensky’s works on relationship between science and Orthodoxy; he was an outstanding theologian and scholar of the early XXth century. Other units discuss a possibility of religious and philosophical revival in Russia today and the related scientific issues which may need a theological and philosophical reflection.

       The Parshin’s book could be compared perhaps only to the works of contemporary British physicist and philosopher Roger Penrose in its wideness of scientific research of mathematical, philosophical and theological problems.
