    1. In this short interview, Professor Nanopoulos answers questions about his academic career and about a number of scientific topics such as the distance between the earth and the sun and the life on earth, as well as on the particle of Higgs the so-called ‘principle of God’, in the sense that it gives a solid answer to the question of the origins of the mass.

He argues than mankind is a physical evidence in a probable universe and that the only thing which merits our attention is the understanding of the way universe came to life and how it has been evolved, based in experimental facts.

In the last part of interview, speaking of the issue of the relation of science and religion, Professor Nanopoulos states that he adopts Spinoza’s thesis according to which Deus siva natura ( God-or- Nature), God is not a transcendent subject. He admits that everyone could have his own beliefs and representations of God according to his internal needs and he is opposite to bring closer scientific discourse and God. According to him, religion goes back to the magicians and the primary anxiety of man to understand and manage the world and it mainly relies on the human fear of death. Human life is only the present life and man has to live it plenty and in a creative manner.
