Ioan Chirilã is a Professor of Theology in the Babeș-Bolyai University in Romania. He has studied in the Orthodox Theological Seminary of Cluj-napoca (1983) and at the Goldstein-Goren Hebrew Studies Centre of the University of Bucharest. He was awarded his PhD in 1999 from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology “Andrei Saguna”. He is an associate of the European Jewish Studies Association and he has performed extensive archival work in Greece and Israel. His interests include New Testament studies, Biblical Archaeology and History of Religions.
