Prof. Panagiotis Christou was the Professor of Patristic Studies in the Aristoteleian University of Thessaloniki. He received his Diploma in Theology from the School of Theology of the University of Athens, and he completed graduate studies in Yale and in the University of Boston. He received his PhD from the University of Athens in 1951 and was subsequently elected a lecturer and then professor of Patristic Studies in 1954 in the Theological School of the University of Thessaloniki. Prof. Panagiotis Christou also served as a Dean of the Theological School (1963-1964) and as rector of the University (1966-1967). He also served two terms as Minister of Education and of Northern Greece. He was the first to publish the works of Saint Gregory Palamas in 1962, and was responsible for the subsequent publication of more than a hundred volumes of Patristic writings.
